Birth, registration and family immigration.
In general, a child born in Brazil to foreign parents is Brazilian by birth, except when the parents are in Brazil in the official service of their country. A Brazilian child may make a foreign parent's family-reunion residence application possible, but it does not automatically grant the parent residence or citizenship.
Newborn nationality
Article 12(I)(a) of Brazil's Federal Constitution establishes birthright nationality on these terms. Civil registration and applying for travel documents are separate administrative steps.
Family-reunion residence
Brazil's Migration Law recognizes family reunion as a basis for a residence application, including for a foreign national who has a Brazilian child. Eligibility, supporting documents and approval depend on the applicable rules and the family's circumstances.
Naturalization is a separate application
The Migration Law allows the ordinary naturalization residence period to be reduced to at least one year for an applicant who has a Brazilian child. This is an eligibility rule, not automatic citizenship; other requirements and government approval still apply.
Healthcare and BR Babies' role
Brazil's public Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) is based on universal access. BR Babies coordinates agreed appointments and logistics; healthcare professionals provide care and make medical decisions.

Does a baby born in Brazil to foreign parents become a Brazilian citizen?

No. That is what our concierge service is for. We explain each stage and tell you what you need to do next.
Can BR Babies guarantee visa or government approval?
We provide professional preparation, coordination and follow-up, but final decisions belong to the relevant authority. We focus on making sure your process is properly prepared and that you understand each required step.
What happens if an authority asks for something extra?
We explain the request and guide you through the next step. If additional services or third-party costs are needed, we discuss them with you before proceeding whenever reasonably possible.
Are medical decisions made by BR Babies?
No. Medical decisions remain with your qualified healthcare professionals. Our role is to coordinate appointments and practical arrangements included in your service.
